My name is Oliver and I've been working in weddings for nearly 10 years. I began working at weddings as a musician while I was studying music. It began as a part time thing to earn a little bit of extra money whilst I was studying which then became a full time passion once I graduated. I've performed at weddings and events across the UK and Europe and it is still something I dabble with today. You can find out more about that here
I’ve had a slightly unconventional journey into wedding planning. My career began while studying music in Birmingham, where performing at weddings was an easy way to earn extra cash. I started by playing saxophone at Asian weddings, a completely new experience for me, and later spent over five years performing with The Distractions and several other party bands.
Working over two hundred weddings as a musician gave me an invaluable understanding of the industry, especially within luxury settings. After a brief spell teaching during Covid, I returned to the wedding world for the 2021–22 boom, which inspired me to pursue a more defined career path. I became a wedding coordinator in January 2023 and, over the next eighteen months, worked at least one hundred weddings.
When progression within the venue wasn’t possible, I decided to return to self-employment and become a freelance wedding planner, a natural fit after being self-employed for most of my adult life. I still perform professionally as a saxophonist, and I think I always will, but being a luxury Cotswold wedding planner and LGBTQ+ wedding planner truly feels like what I’m meant to do. Helping couples create their dream wedding is a privilege I’m grateful for every day.
